Drina shows you which shop near you has the cheapest price on everyday things. This page explains exactly what the app collects, why, and how to get rid of it.
Where the prices come from
Prices in Drina come from two kinds of sources:
- Price data from ioPrice, our price data provider. We keep its prices on our servers only for a short time so the app stays fast.
- The community. Receipts and price tags that people scan in Drina, and prices shared by the community of Open Prices, an open database run by Open Food Facts.
When our server gets prices from any of these sources, it sends only what to look up: a product's name or barcode, such as a line from a receipt you scanned. It does not send your account, your device identifier or your exact location.
What we collect
- Approximate location. Either a coarse position from your device (with your permission) or the city your internet connection is in. It is used to rank the shops around you and to work out which area needs price data. We do not keep a history of where you have been.
- Prices you scan. When you scan a receipt, the item names and prices, the shop, and the date are added to the shared price board so they help everyone nearby. They are stored with the shop's location — never yours — and with no account or device identifier, so a price on the board cannot be traced back to who scanned it.
- Your account, if you create one. If you sign in with Apple we store the identifier Apple gives us, your email address if you chose to share it, and a token from Apple whose only use is to cancel the sign-in when you delete your account. Apple's Hide My Email addresses work fine.
- Your Drinacoins. If you are signed in, each scan adds an entry to your coin balance: the number of coins, how many lines the receipt had, and the date. It does not record which shop or what you bought. When you redeem a reward we keep the reward and its claim code.
- A device identifier. A random value generated on your phone and sent with scans as a basic check. It is not stored with your prices, is not tied to your identity, and is not an advertising identifier.
- Price reports. If you tap Report a price, we keep the product, the shop, the price that was shown, the reason you picked and any note you wrote. The report is not tied to your account: it carries only a one-way scrambled form of your device identifier (or, if there is none, of your internet address), so one phone counts once. We read reports and remove prices that are wrong or inappropriate.
Rewards
When you redeem Drinacoins for a reward, the app gives you a one-use code and opens our rewards store's checkout. The store is run on Shopify, and the item is made and shipped by Printful. To send you the reward they ask for your name, shipping address and email in the store's checkout; that information goes to them under their own privacy policies and is used to deliver your order. The Drina app itself does not see or keep your address.
What we do not collect
- No advertising or tracking identifiers, and no third-party ad networks.
- No contacts, photos library, health, or browsing data.
- No continuous or background location.
- Receipt photos are read on your device and are never uploaded. Only the item names and prices leave your phone.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Prices appear on the public board without any identifying information attached. Our hosting providers process data only on our behalf and protect it as this policy describes. If you redeem a reward, Shopify and Printful receive the details you enter in the rewards store's checkout so they can ship it. The sources of our prices supply prices to us; none of them receives your personal data.
Deleting your account
Open the app, go to the Account tab, and tap Delete account. Your account and your Drinacoins are erased immediately, and your Sign in with Apple link to Drina is cancelled. Prices you contributed remain on the shared board because other people rely on them — they were never attached to your account in the first place.
You can also email us and we will do it for you.
Children
Drina is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
